Melia (pronounced ma-leah) was diagnosed August 3, 2011, 4 days before her third birthday.
Melia started out like any normal little girl, she was a happy baby and such a joy in my life!
Around 18 months I noticed small things that just didn't seem 'right' such as she stopped using words she had previously and wasn't making animal sounds anymore either.
At first I tried to convince myself I was being neurotic, but my mother intuition wouldn't let up. At first we thought it could be autism, but after a diagnostic clinic they ruled it out.
Back to square one.
It took a year and a half of testing and therapy before we got our diagnosis, and that was the hardest time of our lives.
Melia is now in kindergarten and loving it. She loves to swim and jump on her trampoline. Her little brother adores her, and she feels the same way, though sometimes she likes to use her teeth when she kisses him *ouch*
Melia has such a sweet spirit and I can't imagine my life without her!
